Steps to help you plan your care

While we continue working to reach an agreement with Michigan Medicine, these steps can help you plan ahead. We understand that changing doctors, hospitals or care locations can be stressful and may take extra time. We're here to help you review your options now so you can avoid delays, higher costs or gaps in care.

01

Find a new doctor

Schedule your first appointment with a new doctor as soon as possible. If you're an HMO member and your current doctor is part of the Michigan Medicine health system, choose a new primary care doctor by June 4 or one may be assigned to you. Once you choose a new doctor, use the checklist to help prepare for your transition and first visit.

Note: Michigan Medicine doctors may still be listed as in network through June 30. Before scheduling care on or after July 1, confirm the doctor is in your plan's network.

02

Find new hospitals or care locations

Review participating hospitals and care locations you can consider for care on or after July 1. You can also use Find Care to search for participating hospitals, facilities, labs, imaging centers and other care locations. We're working with several local health systems including Trinity Health to secure available appointments for your transition of care.

03

Continuity of Care for ongoing treatment

If you're receiving ongoing treatment with Michigan Medicine, start planning now to move your care to a participating doctor, hospital or care location. Some members receiving active treatment for certain serious medical conditions may qualify to continue care with Michigan Medicine for a limited time through Continuity of Care.

Note: Members who we identified as qualifying for Continuity of Care will receive a letter or email with next steps.

Transfer specialty prescriptions if needed

If you fill certain prescriptions through Michigan Medicine Specialty Pharmacy, take steps now to avoid interruptions in your medications. Consider transferring these medications before June 30 to Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy. This in-network option provides the same medications at equal cost.

Call Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy at 1-866-515-1355 to set up a profile for home delivery.
