Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC)

Learn about your coverage

A summary of benefits and coverage from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan or Blue Care Network explains things like what your health plan covers, what it doesn't cover, and what your share of costs will be.

These documents also show your estimated costs for two sample medical events: having a baby and managing diabetes.

The examples are meant to help you understand what you might pay, and compare that to other plans. Keep in mind they aren't based on actual prices.

If you're not familiar with the health insurance terms used on a summary of benefits and coverage, here's a Glossary of Health Coverage and Medical Terms.

2024 Plans

Coverage for these plans began Jan. 1, 2024. Open enrollment is closed but you can get or change coverage for the remainder of 2024 if you've had one of these qualifying life events.

You can purchase these plans if you and everyone who will be covered are under age 30. This is only a summary of coverage. For more information, log in to your account at bcbsm.com. You’ll find detailed plan documents under the My Coverage section.

Your eligibility for a silver plan depends upon your income. Everyone can buy our Silver 70 plans. The 70 means overall we cover about 70 percent of your health care costs.
You're eligible for the other plans if your income falls within a certain range compared to the federal poverty level. Like the Silver 70 plans, the number tells you how much of your health care costs the plan covers. So a Silver 87 covers about 87 percent.
