With a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Medicare Advantage plan, your coverage goes with you when you're shopping over the counter. Our over-the-counter allowance program, called Advantage Dollars, helps you save on eligible over-the-counter drugs, items and certain food products.
This benefit is available to all individual Medicare Advantage plan members.
You get an Advantage Dollars card preloaded with an allowance of $25 to $100 per quarter, depending on which Medicare Advantage plan you have.
Your card can be used to purchase eligible items such as:
* Food items are eligible for members who have been diagnosed with diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, stroke, hypertension, coronary artery disease and rheumatoid arthritis.
** Unused amounts will roll into the next quarter but not the next calendar year.
You can search for eligible products at MyBenefitsCenter.com
1. Visit a participating store.
2. Shop for approved over-the-counter items or healthy food items.
3. When checking out, swipe your Advantage Dollars card first to pay for all approved items. Then, if necessary, use a secondary form of payment for any remaining items you are purchasing.
