How Can I Change or Cancel My Medicare Supplement Plan? 

If you need to change or cancel your Blue Cross® Medicare Supplement plan, we can help you understand how to do that. 

Switching to a different Medicare supplement plan

You can switch to a different Medicare supplement plan at any time with a new application, which can be submitted online, by calling 1-888-563-3307 or by mailing a paper application (PDF).

You may have originally qualified for a guaranteed issue right, but that changes when you switch to a new plan. We may consider your health status, including your age, gender, health history, tobacco or nicotine use, to determine your monthly premium for your new plan.

Canceling your Medicare supplement plan

If you let us know you don't want to keep your Medicare supplement plan within 30 days of your coverage start date, send us your Blue Cross member ID card and:

  • We'll return any payments you made, minus the reasonable cost of health services your plan paid.
  • You'll be responsible for your share of Medicare costs.

Changing from a Medicare Advantage plan to a Medicare supplement plan

You'll need to cancel your Medicare Advantage plan first. You can only do this during:

  • The annual enrollment period from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7
  • The open enrollment period from Jan. 1 to March 31
  • Certain life changes; for example, you move outside your Medicare Advantage plan's service area

To get started, call the number on the back of your Medicare Advantage member ID card. They’ll tell you the steps to take and when, so you don’t go without coverage between plans.

Canceling your MyBlue Medigap plan

Keep in mind that, if you decide to cancel your MyBlueSM Medigap plan, we no longer offer it, so you can't reenroll.
