How to prepare for your first doctor visit

If you'll be seeing your doctor or primary care physician for the first time, this information will help you get ready for your visit.
Visiting a new doctor can be a little scary. But it doesn't have to be. If you prepare ahead of time, you can make sure your first visit is as easy and stress-free as possible.
Any time you go to see a doctor, there are a few things you should bring:
- Your insurance card
- A valid photo ID
- A list of any medications you're taking
If you're seeing a doctor for the first time, you'll want to bring some additional information:
- Your medical history
- A list of specialists you've seen
- Any questions you may have
Do you have an HMO?
Your primary care physician will be responsible for coordinating your medical care, and keeping all your health records. If you're visiting a primary care physician for the first time, you'll want to make sure you have all the items listed above.
