How do I find a doctor?
Who is this for?
This information can help you locate a doctor or hospital near you that best meets your health care needs.
Finding the right doctor isn't always an easy decision to make. We can't tell you what doctor to choose, but we can help you get a list of doctors.
If you didn't receive one when you joined your plan, you can ask for a provider directory. Just call the Customer Service number on the back of your enrollee ID card and we'll help. If your insurance is employer-sponsored, you can also ask whoever administers the health insurance for the business.
Because printed directories aren't frequently updated, you should make sure the doctor you choose takes your plan when you first call.
That's why the best way to get the most current list of doctors is Find a Doctor, our online search tool.
How to use Find a Doctor
All you have to do is follow a Find a Doctor link on our website to begin. Then choose your plan type, either:
- PPO (preferred provider organization, for most Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan members)
- HMO (health maintenance organization, for most Blue Care Network members
Then you can look for a doctor by location, specialty and condition.
You don't have to have an online account with us through Member Secured Services to use Find a Doctor. But if you do, you'll get more information about doctors and hospitals when you search, like cost and quality information.
