Blue Cross will host the eighth annual, invitation-only safety net symposium for free clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Rural Health Centers, hospitals, public health providers and other safety net health care organizations. The event will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center in East Lansing, Michigan.

The symposium will bring together more than 250 leaders of Michigan’s safety net health care organizations. They’ll learn what is new in policy, evidence-based practices, and partnerships to strengthen resilience and improve health.

Healthy Safety Net 2018 will address a wide range of critical issues:

  • Breaking news related to health care policy, the elections and the safety net
  • Diversifying systems of care to end the opioid epidemic solutions
  • Using design thinking to build hospital-primary care partnerships
  • Addressing health disparities in the homeless, immigrant and LGBTQ communities
  • Transforming community violence and trauma
  • Building resilient organizations through practice transformation

We will tackle these issues from various perspectives, from the front line to big picture and leave the audience of Michigan safety net leaders with new ideas, resources and partners.

Healthy Safety Net 2018 has been approved for five Continuing Education Units for Social Workers and Nursing CEUs are pending. For information about nursing and social work continuing education credits, please email healthysafetynet@bcbsm.com.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan works to improve access to high quality health care for everyone in Michigan. Since 2005, Blue Cross has donated more than $13 million to safety net organizations. This helps thousands of uninsured and underinsured patients get the care they need to be healthy.
