Fully insured plans

With a fully insured plan, you pay monthly premiums. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will manage everything else.

BENEFITS

  • Annual costs are predictable, with a consistent monthly premium.

  • We assume the risk for your group’s health care costs.

  • You must select from Blue Cross plan designs.

Self-funded solutions

We also offer self-funded plans, in which your business pays claims costs. You would not pay monthly premiums to Blue Cross, only an administrative and stop-loss fee.

  • Claims costs are based on your group’s actual claims utilization.

  • Your company assumes the risk.

  • You get more flexibility with your plan design.
