Out-of-pocket costs for ABA services will change for some members in 2025

Starting Jan. 1, 2025, some members will see a change in their out-of-pocket costs for applied behavioral analysis services. The change will apply to all Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network commercial groups, as well as fully insured and self-funded individual plans that already have an out-of-pocket cost or copayment for behavioral health.

Members of affected groups will have to pay the same out-of-pocket costs for ABA services that they now pay for other behavioral health services.

This change is due to a government regulation that will require Blue Cross and BCN to consider ABA services the same as behavioral health office visits, including any out-of-pocket costs for each visit.
