LMFTs, LPCs eligible to provide services for Medicare Advantage members

Licensed marriage and family therapists and licensed professional counselors are eligible to provide behavioral health services to our Medicare Plus Blue℠ and BCN Advantage℠ members.

Requirements

For services to be reimbursable, LMFTs and LPCs must:

• Be in good standing with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and be Medicare approved
• Enroll in our Medicare Advantage provider networks (Medicare Plus Blue and BCN Advantage)

New providers: How to enroll

LMFTs and LPCs who don’t currently participate with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network but want to enroll should visit the Join our Network page on bcbsm.com.

Enrolled providers: How to add Medicare Plus Blue

LMFTs and LPCs who are already enrolled in another network but also want to participate in Medicare Plus Blue can do that in one of the following ways:

• Complete and submit a change form:
1. Visit the Join our Network page and click Enroll or Make Changes.
2. Select Physicians and Professionals and click Next.
3. Select Change an existing provider and click Next.
4. Select the option that applies to you and click Next.
5. Click the link for the Mental Health Practitioner Change Form.
6. Complete the form and fax it to us using the directions on the first two pages of the form.

Enrolled providers: How to add BCN Advantage

LMFTs and LPCs who are already enrolled but want to add participation in BCN Advantage must be part of a BCN Advantage-contracted group.

The group can make the change using the Provider Enrollment and Change Self-Service tool. For more information, visit the For Providers: What is Provider Enrollment and Change Self-Service? page on bcbsm.com and follow the instructions.

Submitting claims

Once the enrollment request has been approved, LMFTs and LPCs can submit claims for services provided to Medicare Plus Blue and BCN Advantage members. Your claims may not be eligible for reimbursement if you submit claims for these members before your network requests have been approved.
