Resources for cancer screening and prevention available

This is part of an ongoing series of articles focusing on the tools and resources available to help FEP members manage their health.

The Michigan Quality Improvement Consortium provides guidelines for preventive services for adults ages 18 through 49** and 50 and older.** These guidelines include information on screenings for colorectal, cervical and breast cancers.

Here are some resources from the American Cancer Society, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Health and Human Services, and American Lung Association:

Blue Cross and Blue Shield Federal Employee Program® benefits have no out-of-pocket cost for colorectal, cervical and breast cancer screenings when done by a Preferred provider.

FEP members also have benefits for smoking and tobacco cessation treatment.

Providers and members can call Customer Service at 1-800-482-3600 or go online to fepblue.org if they have questions about FEP benefits.
