Blue Cross and BCN educate members about the COVID‑19 vaccine

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network are encouraging members to obtain the COVID‑19 vaccine when they have the opportunity to do so. Here’s how we’re communicating with our members about the vaccine:

• We recently sent an email to our commercial members letting them know the priority groups that are currently eligible for the vaccine and sharing a link to the state of Michigan’s COVID‑19 vaccine website for more information.
• We also mailed a postcard to our Medicare members and a care kit that includes a mask and a health and wellness tip guide. We recommend that members talk to their doctor if they have concerns about whether the vaccine is right for them.  
• We have COVID‑19 webpages directed to members that include frequently asked questions about the vaccine.
• We have a blog with content designed to inform members and employers.

These communications are designed to allay concerns about obtaining the vaccine and answer questions about cost and access. We encourage you to connect with your patients who are eligible to receive the vaccine to answer any questions they may have.

We told you in our February issue that Blue Cross and BCN members have no out‑of‑pocket costs for obtaining the COVID‑19 vaccine.
