Blues provider servicing changes planned

You’ll be seeing some changes this year in how you receive service from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network — changes we hope will make it easier for you to work with us.

Currently, most providers have one BCBSM provider consultant and one BCN provider representative. Going forward, most health care providers will have one Blues staff person who will handle your concerns for any of our Blues product lines and services — both BCBSM and BCN.

In order to better serve you, your Blues consultant will:

  • Be stationed locally
  • Have fewer providers to serve than in the current model
  • Likely be someone you already know

In some cases, your Blues provider consultant will not change. For example, provider consulting assignments in the Upper Peninsula are not changing. In addition, hospitals that currently have separate consultants for professional and facility concerns will continue to have two consultants in the new model.

Please note that if your provider consultant is changing, you’ll be notified.

In the first half of 2014, Blues provider consultants will be working to meet your needs while learning all aspects of the Blues business. We appreciate your patience during this transition.
