Maintaining current PGIP contact lists

Keeping your PGIP information and contacts up to date ensures all your contacts can access appropriate applications when they need to. Waiting until the contact needs specific information can bottleneck performance, as it takes several days to gain appropriate access.

To ensure your Physician Organization (PO) or Organized System of Care (OSC) can operate at an optimum level and so that your staff receives all necessary communications, it is important to keep your PGIP PO and OSC contact lists current. Value Partnerships will be conducting an audit to verify PO/OSC demographic information including contacts, executive leadership, and websites.

The roles given to your contacts in the Practitioner Alignment (PA) Tool cascades access to other applications, such as the PO and OSC Self-Assessment Data (SAD) Tool.

Additionally, persons added in the PA Tool display in the contact list on the PGIP Collaboration site, which acts as the source of truth for PO and OSC communications. The PA Tool is also used to manage your physician hierarchy as well as administrative contacts and roles.

To review the responsibilities of each role, please see below:

Primary contact: Ability to add, delete and edit user access for their respective PO or OSC. This is done through the PA Tool. User will have read-only access in the SAD Tool.

Physician list contact: Ability to manage the PO and OSC hierarchy in the PA Tool, which includes add, drop and transfer of sub POs, practice units and practitioners. They can change demographic information for any respective PO, sub PO or practice unit. The physician list contact can also manage contacts for practice units within their PO.

The physician list role is the only type that allows edit functionality in the SAD Tool. If you want a contact to enter capabilities or submit nominations in the SAD Tool, physician list access must be given in the PA Tool to give appropriate SAD access.

Financial contact: Due to the sensitivity of PGIP payment information sent to these contacts, only two of this contact type are allowed per PO or OSC. User will have read-only access in the SAD and PA Tools.

Data and analytics: Read-only ability in the PA Tool and the SAD Tool. Also, receives periodic emails and reports from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan’s Analytics department.

Medical director: Read-only ability in the PA and SAD Tools. Medical directors are required to attend PGIP quarterly meetings to represent their PO or OSC, as well as engage in meetings to help create or improve PGIP processes.

It is important to note that no roles need to be given to a contact to access the PGIP Collaboration site. If the contact is listed under your PO or OSC, the contact will have access to the PGIP Collaboration site. The user will also have read-only access in the SAD Tool.

Please review your current PGIP contact list and ensure you have the correct people listed for the appropriate role. Please keep in mind when trying to modify your contact list, only primary contacts can add, delete or modify their contact lists.

For new user access to either the PGIP – Practitioner Alignment Tool or Collaboration site – the primary contact should complete a PGIP Collaboration Site Access Application – found on the home page of the Collaboration site – and submit through the PGIP PA Tool, Add Contract, transaction.

For those with existing user access, remember Provider Portal (thus PGIP PA Tool and Collaboration site) passwords expire after 30 days and User IDs expire after 180 days. It is best practice to log in every 30 days keep your User ID and password active.

If you have any questions about your POs contact list, please submit an inquiry through the Collaboration site Issue Log.
