Hospital and Physician Update

We’re continuing to raise awareness of mental health and substance use disorder

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness of the mental health challenges faced by children and adults.

We encourage you to check out the following resources:

  • Our newly updated behavioral health website, suitable for sharing with your patients, at bcbsm.com/mentalhealth.
  • A recent blog, “Expanding Mental Health Care to More Michiganders,” on MI Blues Perspectives that shines the spotlight on our Collaborative Care Program, featuring quotes from health care providers and a patient who has benefited from it.
  • Flyers, posters and other materials on behavioral health issues in our behavioral health employer toolkit.

“There’s an increasing need for the health care community to work together more closely to address the behavioral health needs of the populations we serve,” said William Beecroft, M.D., medical director of behavioral health for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. “We appreciate the efforts of the physicians and hospitals we collaborate with as we continue to look for new solutions to address today’s urgent challenges.”
