New brochure shows how Value Partnerships initiatives make a difference

Value Partnerships, a part of the Health Care Value Division of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, leads a wide array of quality improvement efforts that engage hospitals, physicians and specialists in transforming the delivery of health care. Recent program results show they’re making a big difference in the lives of people throughout Michigan.

Key Value Partnerships initiatives and their results are encapsulated in two-page brochure created by Health Care Value. Here are some brief excerpts:

  • Physician Group Incentive Program’s medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorder initiative includes:
    • 55 new emergency department physicians initiating MAT as a result of efforts with Michigan OPEN and the MEDIC Collaborative Quality Initiative
    • 78% increase in the number of MAT providers across the state since September 2019
  • Patient-Centered Medical Home providers, compared to their non-PCMH providers, have:
    • 22.5% fewer emergency room visits for adult patients and 28.5% for pediatric patients due to a focus on prevention
  • Collaborative Quality Initiatives:
    • 8,000 fewer head CT scans in emergency room patients
    • 1,400 post-surgical readmissions prevented after bariatric surgery

“We are proud to highlight the work of Value Partnerships,” said Tom Leyden, director of Value Partnerships. “The brochure spotlights the successful longstanding collaboration of Value Partnerships with Michigan hospitals and doctors. The doctors and hospitals who are part of it should be very proud of the work they do. We salute them.”
