Physician Group Incentive Program (PGIP)
What is an initiative?
A PGIP initiative is a selected program component designed to improve multiple aspects of health care in a variety of different settings. Initiatives are chosen by each physician organization to help facilitate improvement opportunities throughout the health system.
Current initiatives
Current initiatives are organized into five basic categories:
Improvement capacity initiatives:
For new physician organizations only.
Condition-focused initiatives:
- Improve oncology practice performance through participation in the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Quality Oncology Practice Initiative™
- Chronic kidney disease (New in 2010)
- Michigan Oncology Clinical Treatment Pathways (New in 2010)
- End stage renal disease (New in 2010)
Service-focused initiatives:
- Increase the use of generic drugs
- Radiology management
- ED utilization
- Inpatient utilization
- Michigan Anticoagulation Quality Improvement Initiative — MAQI2 (New in 2010)
Core clinical process-focused initiatives:
- Evidence-based care tracking to reduce gaps in care
- Performance reporting*
- Patient-provider partnership*
- Extended access*
- Individual care management*
- Test tracking and follow-up*
- Lean clinical reengineering for PCMH CQI
- Coordination of care*
- Preventive services*
- Specialist referral process*
- Linkage to community services*
- Self-management support
