About Us

The National Retiree Service Department (NRS) keeps you informed about your Blue Cross Blue Shield health care coverage. Here are some of our services:

  • Monthly UAW council meetings to answer questions about new and existing health care benefits, and where we coordinate the handling of inquiries involving unpaid claims.
  • UAW Retiree Seminars throughout the United States to discuss benefits and health/wellness related activities.
  • Educational material to help Auto/UAW retirees better understand their health care benefits.
  • Coordinating the processing of all inquiries regarding unpaid claims, including gathering all information, tracking and responding to the enrollee.
  • Preparing training materials on UAW/Auto negotiated health care benefits and conduct training sessions for all UAW chairpersons and UAW counselors throughout the United States.
  • Responding to UAW/Auto chairpersons and counselors by phone, fax and mail regarding clarification of benefits, services and denied claims.
UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust, (VEBA) – Effective Jan. 1, 2010

Effective Jan. 1, 2010, the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust, (VEBA) will provide health care coverage for Chrysler, Ford and General Motors United Auto Workers Retirees, spouses and eligible dependents through selected health care carriers. All members will be sent new identification cards in early December 2009. Be sure to share the new identification card with your providers so your records can be updated to reflect any changes and ensure accurate claim processing for services provided beginning Jan. 1, 2010.
