How Can I Add More Dental, Vision and Hearing Coverage to My Medicare Advantage Plan?

Want more dental, vision and hearing coverage to go with your Medicare Advantage plan? Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan offers optional buy-up packages you can add for a low monthly price.

When you can enroll

Is based on whether you're a new or current Medicare Advantage member.

Current members

You can add this coverage during the annual enrollment period, Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. In some cases, you can enroll through Jan. 31 each year. 

If you enroll by Dec. 31, your coverage will start on Jan. 1. If you enroll by Jan. 31, your coverage will start on Feb. 1. 

New members

If you don't have one of our Medicare Advantage plans yet, you can add this coverage to your plan when you enroll online. Your dental, vision and hearing coverage will start at the same time. 

You can also add this extra coverage to your plan within 30 days of your effective date. If you signed up this way, your dental, vision and hearing coverage will start on the first of the month after you've applied.

You can enroll in this plan online when you enroll in one of our Medicare Advantage plans. 

Or you can download a paper application and mail it to us.

Choosing your plan

Each Medicare Advantage plan has its own dental, vision and hearing buy-up package that complements the coverage offered with your plan.

If you want to add coverage and have one of these Medicare Plus BlueSM PPO plans:

  • Essential
  • Vitality
  • Signature
  • Assure

You can add this package to your plan for an additional monthly cost. It offers:

  • Extra coverage for dental work including dentures, bridges and implants.
  • A generous allowance for elective contact lenses or glasses (lenses and frames). Polycarbonate lenses and anti reflective coating are covered in network.

If you want to add coverage and have one of these BCN AdvantageSM HMO plans:

  • BCN Advantage ConnectedCare
  • BCN Advantage Local HMO

You can add one of these packages to your plan for an additional monthly cost.

If you have BCN Advantage ConnectedCare or Local, you can get:

  • Extra coverage for dental work including dentures, bridges and implants.
  • A generous allowance for elective contact lenses or glasses (lenses and frames). Polycarbonate lenses and anti reflective coating are covered in network.

If you have BCN Advantage Connected Care, you can also get: 

  • Coverage for hearing aids and hearing exams.
