How Can I Pay My First Bill After I Buy a Blue Cross Plan on healthcare.gov?

After you enroll in a Blue Cross plan at healthcare.gov, you have two options: pay now or pay later.

Pay now

To pay now, you'll need your payment transaction ID, which is sometimes called an application ID, from healthcare.gov. You'll also need to know the amount you owe and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan or Blue Care Network plan you enrolled in.

You can use this information to make your payment before you receive your first bill. Just call a customer service representative at 1-877-575-5081. You can pay by credit or debit card, or by setting up a payment using your bank account's routing and checking numbers.

Pay later

If you decide to pay later, you'll have to wait until you receive your first bill. Once you receive your bill, you'll need your account number to make a payment. PPO and EPO members can find their account number on their bill. HMO members can find it on their Blue Cross ID card. After you find your account number, you can make your payment using one of the following options:

If you decide to pay by mail, we'll process your payment faster if you write your account number on your check or money order. Also, be sure to include your payment coupon.
