If I switch from my employer’s plan, will my individual insurance cover my pre-existing conditions?

A pre-existing condition is defined as any medical condition that required medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment in the six months before you apply for health insurance.

If you're age 19 or older, you'll have to wait 180 days before your plan will cover your pre-existing conditions, except for preventive care.
