I’m currently uninsured. How does health care reform help me?
In 2014, you’ll be able to use the state health insurance exchange to shop for health insurance. The exchange lets you compare the benefits, prices and networks of different health care plans, so you can find the one that’s best for you. You may even qualify for tax credits and subsidies, or money given to you by the government, to help you pay for the insurance you buy through the exchange.
To help people who are having a hard time getting coverage between now and 2014, Michigan has a temporary high-risk pool program. If you haven’t had health insurance for the past six months, you may qualify. To learn more about this program, please visit Health Insurance Program for Michigan’s website.
