What’s my waiting period for pre-existing conditions?
A waiting period is the time it takes for your health insurance to take effect once you’ve enrolled in a health care plan.
If you were enrolled in one of our plans before Dec. 31, 2013, you'll get credit for the time you already spent waiting for a pre-existing condition to be covered.
- If you were enrolled for more than 180 days, you won't have to wait for us to cover any pre-existing conditions.
- If you were enrolled for less than 180 days, you'll only have to wait for the amount of time you had left in your original waiting period.
You'll have to wait 180 days before your Keep Fit℠ plan will cover your pre-existing conditions if:
- You're age 19 or older.
- You weren't enrolled in one of our plans before Dec. 31, 2013.
This doesn't include preventive care, which has a 90-day benefit waiting period.
You may be able to waive the waiting period by filling out an Application for Waiver of Pre-existing Waiting Period. Find out more in How can I receive a waiver for the pre-existing waiting period?
