What is MIChild?
MIChild is a state-run program that helps Michigan families get the health care they need for their uninsured children.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan participates in the MIChild program and is committed to helping uninsured children receive the health insurance coverage they need.
For $10 a month, you’ll get complete medical, dental, vision, hearing and prescription coverage for all of your children under age 19. There’s no deductible, and there’s no copay when you visit a participating doctor.
What does it cover?
Our MIChild PPO plan covers services such as:
- Oral exams and routine checkups, including teeth cleaning
- Emergency care
- Hospital treatment
- Prescription drugs
- Well-baby care and child care visits
- Health exams
- Immunizations
- Vision and hearing care

Are my children eligible?
To qualify for MIChild, your children must be:
- Michigan residents
- U.S. citizens
- Under the age of 19
- Currently without any form of health insurance, including Medicaid
- In a family that meets the program’s income limits
