MIChild provides affordable health insurance for children of low-income families.

Do you know a working family who can’t afford basic health and dental care for their kids?

What if we told you they could get that care for only $10 a month?

It’s true. It’s MIChild, a program through the state of Michigan that provides health care coverage to the children (under the age of 19) of low-income working families.

We make your child our child through MIChild

Because improving access to health care is central to our mission, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan supports MIChild.

  • We contribute to the program each year so more families can get coverage for their children.
  • We stepped up efforts in schools, hospitals and community centers to reach children who need MIChild.

We’re also one of the insurers that provide medical and dental coverage for MIChild. The families of nearly 30,000 children in MIChild have made us their insurance company. You’ll see in this survey (PDF) that they give us pretty good grades.
