Physical Activity and Nutrition
Michigan is the nation's 11th most obese state.
Approximately 50 percent of adults and 30 percent of high school students do not get the suggested amount of physical activity, and 77 percent of adults eat less than the recommended five or more servings of fruits and vegetables per day.
To help combat obesity, the Blues have funded initiatives to help Michigan families lead healthier lives. They:
- Provide children with increased opportunities for physical fitness and healthy food choices
- Help families eat better and be more fit
- Promote healthy lifestyles within Michigan communities
Michigan elementary schools may apply now for a to improve students' physical activity and nutrition in the next school year.
