Corporate Contributions
The Blues corporate giving program supports nonprofit 501(3)(c) organizations throughout Michigan. We invest in our communities by supporting organizations that share our commitment to Michigan.
Our charitable contributions support programs that:
- Address health issues specific to Michigan's youth and seniors
- Extend a nonprofit organization's reach through effective use of volunteers
- Emphasize collaboration across regions within Michigan
Criteria
To be considered for a charitable contribution from the Blues, an organization must be:
- Nonprofit — 501(3)(c) status
- Michigan-based and focused
Restrictions
Contributions are not made to:
- Individuals
- Political organizations, campaigns or candidates
- Extracurricular school activities
- Endowments
- Alumni associations
- Scholarship programs
- Research projects
- Multi-year pledges
- Operational expenses
- Group travel expenses
- Capital campaigns
Timeframes
Contribution requests are accepted year round and are reviewed monthly by BCBSM's director of community affairs. Generally, organizations will be notified of a decision verbally or in writing within 15 days of request receipt.
How to request a contribution
Requests for contributions must be submitted in writing, and include:
- Corporate Contributions Cover Sheet (243K PDF)
- IRS 501(c)(3) tax exemption documentation
- Organization's annual report
We may also ask for current audited financial statements and IRS Form 990.
