Healthy Blue HMO HRASM – features
- Choice of reimbursable expenses: You choose if the HRA will pay for either deductibles, copayments or both.
- Specify allocation: You specify how much to allocate to the HRA and whether the funds are limited by member or family.
- Hassle-free: There are no start-up or administrative fees. The HRA account has integrated processing for claims and HRA balances.
- Pay the provider: BCN pays the provider directly from your client's HRA account. There is no additional paperwork, and providers are paid promptly.
- Online account information: Employees may check the amount in their HRA accounts, recent transactions and year-to-date information. Employees may also call the toll-free number on the back of their Blues ID cards to get this information.
- Blues ID card: Employees use a single Blues ID card with a BCN HMO HRA designation for health care services and to access HRA funds.
- Proration: Your company may prorate a portion of the benefit year to reflect a newly hired employee's benefit.
- Rollover options: You may allow remaining HRA funds to roll over to the next year's HRA for employees. In addition, a retirement rollover option sets aside funds that are inaccessible until employee retirement. We encourage you to allow rollovers, as it helps employees take ownership of their HRA accounts.
- Claims run-out: Your company sets a specified time (30, 60, 90, 120 or 365 days) following the end of calendar year that claims for services provided may still be submitted for payment.
- COBRA funds distribution: If an employee purchases COBRA continuation coverage, they retain access to the HRA and health plan linked to it. As long as COBRA premiums are paid, the employee is entitled to unused HRA balances with the same annual employer contribution as active employees.
- Member pays first: An employee must pay an up-front amount equal to a certain limit specified by you, prior to any HRA funds being allocated.
