What's the SHOP?
The SHOP, or Small Business Health Options Program, is an exchange created by the new law to help small business owners buy health insurance for their employees.
The law defines a small business as having one to 50 employees. That limit will expand to 100 employees in 2016.
As a small business owner, you’ll have several coverage options to choose from. You can pick one plan for all your employees. You can select a specific range of plans for them to choose from. You can let them select their own plan from any of the ones available on the exchange. It’s up to you.
To learn more about how the exchange will work, please read our SHOP reform alert.
