How can I get help paying for my employees' coverage?

If you’re a small business owner, you may be eligible for a tax credit.

You can earn a tax credit of up to 35 percent if you:

  • Have fewer than 25 full-time employees (or the equivalent of 25 full-time employees)
  • Pay an average wage of less than $50,000 a year per employee
  • Pay at least half of your employees’ health insurance premiums

Tax-exempt small businesses, such as charities, are eligible too. They can receive a tax credit of up to 25 percent.

You can read more details about the small business health care tax credit on the IRS website.
