What you need to know about signing up for a new plan if you want coverage on Jan. 1, 2014

We know you might be having trouble connecting with our health plan advisors to sign up for a health insurance plan for 2014.  We’re working hard to make sure it's easy for current and new members to sign up.

We’ve pulled together a few resources to speed up this process for you.

Eligible for a subsidy?

First, if you think you’re eligible for a subsidy, sign up for an account at healthcare.gov. Once you know your precise subsidy amount, you’ll be able to make a better decision.

You can use the table at right to get an idea of whether you qualify. If you're sure you're not eligible, you can get started now.

*Income levels are based on 2013 federal guidelines. Guidelines may vary by state.
Size of household May not be eligible if income is more than:*
One person
$50,000
Two people
$65,000
Family of four
$95,000

I want to purchase a new plan or change my plan

  • Sign up online
  • Call a licensed Blues insurance agent.
  • Visit one of our walk-in centers.
  • Call a health plan advisor at 1-855-237-3469.

If you really prefer to talk to one of our health plan advisors, they’ll be available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Dec. 23 to help you select a plan. But please note that wait times can be long during peak hours. We expect call volumes to be at their lowest on Saturday and Sunday.

You don’t need to do anything.  You’ll be signed up for a plan through 2014.
