Reform Alert - News from the Blues' Office of National Health Reform

Individuals can create a Marketplace account

Aug. 7, 2013

On August 6, healthcare.gov added a log-in element for individuals to create a Marketplace account. You can set up an account by following these three steps:

  • Provide basic information like your name, address, and email address
  • Choose your username and password
  • Create security questions to add an extra layer of protecting your information

With an account set up, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) intends individuals will be prepared to apply for health coverage, compare plans side-by-side, and enroll in a plan beginning October 1, 2013 for coverage beginning January 1, 2014. You can also continue to enroll directly through Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Where can I find more information?
