TRAVERSE CITY, MICH. — Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network are moving their sales and service center to the heart of downtown Traverse City in early October. The Blues will move from their current area location, at 1769 S. Garfield, to lease new offices at the three-story City Centre Plaza building at 202 E. State Street.
The move reaffirms the Blues' commitment to maintaining a presence in Traverse City. This initiative is the latest in a series of moves by BCBSM and its subsidiaries to invest in Michigan's core cities, such as the recent relocation of 3,400 Blue Cross suburban workers to downtown Detroit, the consolidation of Blue Cross employees in the Capitol Avenue building in downtown Lansing, and the establishment of the West Michigan headquarters for Blue Cross in the former Steketee’s Building in downtown Grand Rapids.
“Michigan is our home and our employees have lived and worked in this area for many years,” said Jeff Connolly, BCBSM vice president and president of West Michigan Operations and Managed Care. “We are committed to providing the very best service to our customers, medical providers and agents in Traverse City and the surrounding region.
Connolly said the new location will be better aligned to future business strategies and needs.
“Our new location will help us meet customer needs by providing an excellent customer experience through walk-in customer service capabilities for members including seniors, a more customer-friendly office environment, and better and more efficient use of space,” Connolly said. “The facility also will provide us with the flexibility to adapt our services to the frequently changing health care market, and helps hold down real estate costs.”
The Blues’ differentiate themselves from their competitors by having a network of sales and service centers across the state to serve state residents.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network are nonprofit corporations and independent licensees of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
