Blues employees go bowling to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters

DETROIT - More than 500 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network employees, friends and family members will help raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit at the annual Bowl for Kids' Sake on Saturday, March 28 at Merri-Bowl Lanes, 30950 Five Mile Road in Livonia.

This is the seventh year the Blues have been involved in the bowling challenge. It raises money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit activities and programs throughout Wayne County.

"This is a great opportunity for Blues employees, friends and family members to come together to raise money for mentoring children in the metropolitan Detroit area," said Equilla Wainwright, vice president of Diversity and Community Responsibility.

"Bowl for Kids' Sake is a fun-filled event that raises awareness of the need for mentoring children. Blues employees understand this need and continue to show their compassion for others even in these tough economic times. We are proud to show our continuous support for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit," said Michele Samuels, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan vice president and general auditor and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit board member.

The target pledge goal for each bowler is $100 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under, which earns them two games of bowling and free shoe rental. Bowlers who raise the minimum pledge will be eligible for prizes such as hotel stays and gift certificates. Musical entertainment will be provided by Brittney Moore, Charles Davis, Amando D. Amando, Enflyte and Joe Yepez.
