License Suspension or Termination
Termination by the state of Michigan
Any agent whose license has been suspended by the state has a 90-day grace period to comply with the requirements. During that 90-day period, the agent can only service existing Blue Cross Blue Shield and Blue Care Network of Michigan customers and will receive commissions only for these policies. The agent cannot:
- Solicit or sell new business
- Bind coverage
- Submit Agent of Record letters
If the agent does not comply within the 90-day period, the agent's license will be cancelled resulting in the immediate termination of the contract with BCBSM/BCN. At that time, all commissions will cease.
Termination by Blue Cross Blue Shield and Blue Care Network of Michigan
When BCBSM/BCN suspects that an agent is not in compliance with the terms and conditions of the Agent Agreement, BCBSM/BCN may:
- Suspend commissions of any or all groups in question.
- Suspend the agent's right to solicit or sell new insurance policies, bind coverage, submit Agent of Record letters or otherwise act as a BCBSM/BCN agent.
These suspensions will remain in effect pending an investigation by our Office of the General Counsel and/or our corporate Financial Investigations unit. If the investigation determines that the agent is not in compliance, BCBSM/BCN may suspend or terminate the agreement between the agent and BCBSM/BCN.
